As part of our efforts to recover Puget Sound, the Puget Sound Partnership is developing the Coordinated Ecosystem Monitoring program. The Coordinated Ecosystem Monitoring program is an element of our enabling statute (RCW 90.71.290), the Action Agenda (Near Term Action E.3.1), the Strategic Science Plan and the Biennial Science Work Plan. The purpose of the Coordinated Ecosystem Monitoring program is to evaluate progress towards ecosystem recovery and to serve as a foundation to continually improve the scientific basis for management actions in the Puget Sound. Our goal is to work with our partners to coordinate monitoring efforts that provide credible, high quality and accessible monitoring findings for our partners, decision-makers, and ultimately, the public.

| The Puget Sound Partnership is planning a roundtable discussion about the structure and roles and responsibilities of the Puget Sound monitoring program. The ECB will host the roundtable discussion at the ECB meeting on Feb 3rd in Olympia. Please see the announcement detailing our expectations for the meeting. At the meeting, we plan on reviewing the draft Charter, having a roundtable discussion about the draft Charter, and also to give opportunity to those favoring alternative approaches for a structure and roles and responsibilities to present their alternative proposals. We request that alternative proposals be submitted in writing by Friday January 21 so we can distribute it to the ECB and later to Leadership Council. |
