Join us March through June for the Education, Communication and Outreach Network (ECO Net) Coordination Days. Coordination Days will establish ongoing local education, communication and outreach networks in 12 areas around Puget Sound. Along with the Puget Sound Partnership, these local networks will identify mutual goals and priorities of the region’s needs and the Action Agenda, leading to increased effectiveness and efficiency.

Each Local ECO Network group will:

  • Identify mutual goals and priorities outlined in the Action Agenda.
  • Develop strategies to move these goals and priorities forward.
  • Familiarize Partnership staff with education and outreach programs in each county.
  • Provide communication between the broad ECO Network and local networks.

Who should attend:

  • ECO Network members.
  • Education, communication and outreach providers interested in working with the Partnership and joining ECO Net but in need of more information.

What to expect:

  • Day one: “Listening day."
Local visits for Partnership staff to interact with outreach and education programs and providers.
    • Outcome: Develop relationships between Partnership staff and ECO Network members. Partnership will become familiar with the programs and providers of outreach and education around the Sound
  • Day two: Local meeting to develop an ongoing ECO network.
    • Outcome:
      • Where no network currently exists – establishment of a local education, communication & outreach network.
      • Where network exists – a plan to solidify and expand upon existing network.

Planning for Coordination Days:
Your WSU Extension convener will be the local point person for Coordination Days organization.

Specifically, they will:

  • Identify existing networks or groups that can be expanded upon.
  • Identify local groups, agencies, etc. to begin forming a network where none exists.
  • Advertise, solicit and “register” participants
  • Coordinate dates and logistics for each two-day event.
  • Schedule site visits with interested/appropriate organizations on the first day.
  • Communicate regularly with the Puget Sound Extension point person.
  • Continue as convener/facilitator of local ECO Network group with support from the Partnership to build upon Coordination Days efforts.

Why a Puget Sound Partnership ECO Network?

A recent Partnership survey found that only 22 percent of the Puget Sound population is aware of the problems with Puget Sound. The Partnership is working to raise that number to at least 60 percent, which will greatly increase personal actions that benefit, and financial support for restoring, Puget Sound to good health.

Local ECO Network group members must have effective structures in place to engage and further educate the Puget Sound populace.
