2016-17 Puget Sound Action Agenda strategy work available for public comment

The Puget Sound Partnership is seeking public input in preparation for the 2016-17 update to the Puget Sound Action Agenda, the comprehensive conservation and management plan that prioritizes the work of the region on the most effective strategies to restore and sustain Puget Sound.

Three workgroups formed earlier this spring for experts and practitioners to review and update the Puget Sound Action Agenda’s three Strategic Initiatives: Protecting and restoring habitat, preventing pollution from stormwater, and recovering shellfish beds.

The public can review and comment on the findings online at www.psp.wa.gov/action_agenda_center.php.  Online public comments are accepted through July 10, 2015.

In addition to public comment period, the recommendations will be presented to the Science Panel, Ecosystem Coordination Board, Salmon Recovery Council, and Leadership Council. After the Leadership Council reviews and approves the scope of the Strategic Initiatives, the process of selecting Near Term Actions for the 2016-17 Action Agenda process can begin.

Additional comments or recommendations can be provided via in-person public testimony at the following meetings:
•    Science Panel, June 24, 2015, at Western Washington University, Viking Union 565, Bellingham
•    Ecosystem Recovery Board, July 8, 2015, at Edmonds City Hall, Brackett Room, 121 Fifth Ave. N., Edmonds
•    Leadership Council, July 29-30, 2015, meeting location TBD
