Leadership Council invites nominations for Science Panel
The Leadership Council of the Puget Sound Partnership is seeking nominations for membership on the Puget Sound Science Panel.
The panel will consist of nine scientists from a broad spectrum of ecological, physical and social science disciplines whose purpose is to provide independent, nonrepresentational scientific advice to the Puget Sound Partnership's Executive Director, Leadership Council and Ecosystem Coordination Board.
Qualified scientists from federal, state, local and tribal governments, environmental organizations and institutions of education (K-12, colleges and universities) are encouraged to apply for appointment to the panel. The Washington State Academy of Sciences will forward 15 recommendations to the Leadership Council for consideration. From this list, the Council will select nine members to serve on the panel.
A key function of the Science Panel will be communicating scientific results to the public and policy makers.
Members will serve four-year terms; however, initial appointments of some members will be two or three year terms to allow for staggered terms.
The deadline to submit applications for nomination to the Science Panel is 5 p.m., Sept. 14, 2007.
