Regional leaders, public to celebrate approval of plan to save Puget Sound on Dec. 1
OLYMPIA – Leaders from across the region and members of the public will celebrate the Puget Sound Partnership’s adoption of a final Action Agenda to clean up and restore Puget Sound at a special event in Seattle next week.

• WHEN: 11 a.m. Dec. 1
• WHERE: Seattle Aquarium, Puget Sound Great Hall, 1483 Alaskan Way
Scheduled to speak are: U.S. Sen. Patty Murray; Congressman Norm Dicks; Gov. Chris Gregoire; Bill Ruckelshaus, Leadership Council chair; David Dicks, executive director of the Partnership; Rep. Dave Upthegrove, a chief architect of the legislation that created the Partnership; and Elin Miller, regional administrator, EPA Region 10.
The Action Agenda provides critical data and a strategy for tackling the threats to the waters in and around Puget Sound. Its adoption follows 18 months of outreach to and collaboration with scientists, policy experts, business and environmental interests, Indian tribes, and all levels of government. By statute, it must be delivered to the Legislature by Dec. 1.
