The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 directed funds to many federal agencies to support short-term job creation and maintenance by investments in the US economy. This includes investments in infrastructure, education, and environmental restoration. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is very clear about using these funds to both improve the overall economy of the United States while also improving the ability of people to be employed for a collective good. The whole bill can be seen at: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/ARRA_public_review/
The federal funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 are an opportunity for the region to demonstrate the importance of green jobs and their role in recovering the Puget Sound. The Puget Sound Partnership will work with local, state, federal, and tribal entities to identify, fund, and implement projects that advance the priorities of the Action Agenda.
The federal agencies receiving funds most linked to the recovery of Puget Sound and implementation of the Action Agenda are: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US Forest Service, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Each of these agencies will have unique criteria and a process for distributing funds.
