Science Work Plan for 2025-2029

Comments on the2025-2029 Science Work Plan were accepted in August and October 2024. The Science Work Plan describes the research, monitoring, and coordination needed to recover the Puget Sound. It identifies and prioritizes gaps in scientific knowledge, provides broader recommendations to improve ongoing science, and drives the allocation of scientific funding. Comments can be found in Appendix E of the Science Work Plan.

2024 Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan Addendum

Public comments for the 2024 Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan Addendum were accepted January 8 to February 21, 2024. This Addendum is an addition to the Regional Chapter of the 2007 Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan and serves as a guide to recovering salmon populations in the region. It highlights successes and areas for growth, integrates recommendations from partners, incorporates new scientific findings, and identifies specific actions implementers will be taking to advance salmon recovery. PSEMP Strategic Plan 2018-2022 Assessment

Feedback for the Assessment of the 2018-22 Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program (PSEMP) Strategic Plan was solicited via online survey in February and March 2023. PSEMP is a collaborative network of subject matter experts that generates, organizes, synthesizes, and communicates scientific information critical to Puget Sound recovery. The assessment provided insights regarding the achievements, challenges, and evolution of PSEMP between 2018-2023, and informed the development of the strategic plan for 2024-2028. Survey results can be found in Appendix B of the plan.

2027-2029 PSAR Large Capital Projects Request for Proposals

Public comments for the draft 2027-2029 PSAR Large Capital Projects Request for Proposals (RFP) were accepted August 1-30, 2025. The Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration program (PSAR) supports salmon recovery by directing funds appropriated by the Legislature to habitat protection and restoration projects that will have the greatest benefit to salmonid species throughout the region. This RFP will invite funding applicants for large projects that cost more than lead entities are typically able to support through the standard funding process and are ready for construction. No public comments were received.

Environmental Justice Assessment for the 2026-2030 Action Agenda

Comments for the Environmental Justice Assessment for the 2026-2030 Action Agenda were received through consultations and workshops in July and August 2025. As part of the HEAL Act, the Partnership is conducting environmental justice assessments for all significant agency actions, such as the Action Agenda, to determine their impact on overburdened communities and vulnerable populations. The Action Agenda outlines strategies and actions for partners to better invest in projects to advance Puget Sound recovery. A summary of comments will be available in December 2025.
